Facebook appoints American Express CEO to board of directors

Facebook reported this day the addition of Kenneth I. Chenault, CEO of American Express, to its board of directors. "I've been trying to recruit Ken for years," Facebook CEO check mark Zuckerberg told in a press release. In addition to serving on Facebook's board, Chenault serves on the boards of IBM, Procter & Gamble, the Harvard Corporation and others. Bell, while not the premier black man to serve on the board, is the only black man currently serving on Apple's board of directors. A main tech firm without any African-American nor Latinx people on its board of directors is Alphabet.

not to mention Facebook is making perfect on its pledge that it would add an African-American member to its board of directors. CEO check mark Zuckerberg reported that Kenneth Chenault, the retiring head of American Express, going to be joining the board, that currently doesn't involve any people of color, and only 2 ladies between its 8 members. Sandberg told members of the Congressional Black Caucus final year that the firm would add a black member to its board, after lawmakers criticized the company's lackluster diversity efforts. Among wealth 500 companies, men who are minorities make up 10.6% of board members, while minority ladies only 3.8%. Also in a Facebook post, Sandberg told AmEx thrived under his leadership, and that as a Facebook client, Chenault was always honest.
