"ABC News" : Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey leaves Facebook

according to Palmer Luckey, the co-founder of Facebook's Oculus virtual-reality business, is leaving the company. Oculus makes the stand-alone Rift virtual-reality headset along with the Gear VR headset for Samsung. Earlier this year, a federal jury found that Oculus, Luckey and co-founder Brendan Iribe violating the intellectual property rights of video-game maker ZeniMax Media. The jury awarded $500 million in damages, including $50 million from Luckey. Luckey, who is 24, is leaving Facebook in the heels of controversies.

In January, Luckey appeared in public to testify as part of an IP lawsuit being brought against him and other co-founders at Oculus VR by ZeniMax Media. Palmer Luckey is out at Facebook. UploadVR reported in December that an Oculus spokesperson had told the company that Luckey was still with Facebook and that the company would have "more to share on his new role soon."Well. Nevertheless, many were surprised when Luckey did not appear at the Oculus Developer Conference this past fall. Facebook acquired Oculus in March of 2014 for $2 billion.
