300 million people use Facebook Stories every day

With more users taking advantage of Facebook Stories these days, the company is expanding in-Story ads to all advertisers around the world. Facebook, which started testing Story ads earlier this year, announced the expansion in a blog post today. Facebook's version of Stories may have had a rough start, but the company seems to have successfully redirected its course. The 300 million daily users number reported today is double what the company was logging in May -- an impressive rate of growth that doesn't appear to be slowing.

Facebook announced today at a press event in New York City that Stories now has 300 million daily active users across Messenger and Facebook. Across Facebook's family of apps, Instagram Stories still has the most daily active users, though it has also been around longer. In June, Facebook announced that Instagram now had 400 million daily active users. In May, the company said Facebook Stories alone had 150 million daily active users. However, Facebook is also taking measures to ensure that happens — across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, Stories are prominently displayed at the top of the feed, increasing the likelihood that users will see and click on them.

according to Facebook and Messenger Stories now have 300 million daily active users, the company announced Wednesday. By comparison, Snap-owned Snapchat reported 181 million daily active users in its second quarter earnings report in August. Facebook also announced plans Wednesday to roll out ads to Facebook Stories globally, which will operate like Instagram Stories ads. An Ipsos study commissioned by Facebook found 68 percent of people use a "stories"-like feature on at least three apps regularly. Users also can opt into sharing their Instagram Story on Facebook.
