As it stated in Facebook just made live streaming 360-degree video relatively easy, provided you have the equipment to capture the content. An update available today for the companion apps for both cameras will allow you to select Facebook Live as a broadcast destination when you select the live feature within the app's options. Live 360 broadcasts aren't yet embeddable on other sites, however, and they can't be viewed via Apple TV or Chromecast for big-screen playback just yet. Insta360's cameras already support live broadcasts to Periscope and to YouTube, but Facebook's in-app integration is a useful way to reach more people with minimal effort and promotion. The feature works using Facebook's livestreaming video tech, providing 1080p, 30fps playback and a maximum streaming time of four hours, which should be plenty for whatever you're planing to immersively immerse your immersion hungry audience within.

If all this sounds a bit tricky, Facebook has created a Live 360 guide with tips on how to film. To make the experience even more real, Facebook introduced spatial audio, "which gives viewers the ability to experience 360 degree sound just as they would in real life." On top of the two cameras mentioned, Facebook also supports the Giroptic IO, Allie Camera, and Z Cam S1. With some tweaking, you might be able to get other cameras working too, according to the guide.

And 360-degree video serves as a gateway to virtual reality, which has been one of Facebook's strategic focuses since buying headset maker Oculus in 2014. Facebook users need to adjust their post privacy settings before going live. Live-streaming in 360 degrees, which lets viewers swivel their phones around them to see the action from any angle, hits two sweet spots for Facebook: its dual obsessions with video and virtual reality. Facebook has been aggressively expanding into video through moves like prioritizing clips in your Newsfeed and exploring original programming. After writing a description for the live feed, 360 broadcasters can then see comments and reactions directly from the camera interface.
