San Diego activist vanishes in Mexico, leaves clues in Facebook Live video

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)--Friends and family of a missing San Diego-based immigration rights activist are asking for the public's help in locating the man last seen in Mexico pleading for help on Facebook Live on Thursday. The missing man did mention that he was close to being out of money and his cell phone battery was about to die. Hugo Castro is a U.S. citizen who works as a volunteer coordinator with the local non-profit organization Border Angels, which "advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform and social justice," according to its website. According to KPBS, Castro was on his way to join a caravan that is following Central American asylum seekers as they make their way to the U.S./Mexico border. WATCH:Castro said the criminals, who he believed were from Tamaulipas, had been following him for days but were now escalating their interactions with him by cornering him in freight vehicles.
